◄歌手Al Green深受芝加哥政治人物歡迎。 (圖／翻攝自網路)六月21日禮拜五美國伊利諾州州長Pat Quinn宣佈6月15日是「Al Green日」，Al Green參加了於芝加哥郊區舉辦的演唱會，Pat Quinn州長於會中告知社會大衆這個榮譽，年初美國總統歐巴馬在紐約公開場合也唱了幾句Al Green的招牌歌Let’s Stay Together，所以有人說似乎來自芝加哥的政治人物都喜歡Al Green 。Al Green 1946年出生於阿肯色州Forrest City，他是一位出色的靈魂歌手與作曲人，早年演唱福音歌曲，1960年代中、後期參加過The Creations與Soul Mates合唱團，1969年起開始個人歌唱生涯，他的歌大部份是自己寫的，1980年起他回頭唱福音歌曲，因他多年來對教會的付出，且年事已高，大家尊稱他Al Green牧師。Al Green是1972年最受歡迎歌星，他在流行歌曲排行榜名次最好的歌就是當年2月的冠軍曲Let’s Stay Together，這也是他唯一的冠軍曲，這首歌在滾石雜誌500大歌曲榜獲得第60名。Al Green暢銷曲很多，在歷年暢銷歌星排行榜則獲得第167名，1995年被選入搖滾樂名人堂，2002年獲得Grammy終生成就獎。
