在留學選校的環節，一個被中國家長、學生和留學機構嚴重忽略的問題是，不去考慮所申請的學校的“政治氛圍”，而美國恰恰是一個非常講政治的國家。一直以來，相當一部分美國高校，尤其是那些名校，是左翼的大本營，無論是老師還是學生思想譜系都很progressive。年輕人思維活躍容易激動，遇到不平、不公而按捺不住，這本是天性，無可厚非。但不可否認，這些年來，美國社會“講政治”之風越演越烈，甚至達到元帥升帳的地步。我在我的微信視頻號和小紅書視頻號“西洋龍門陣”已經就這個話題講過好幾期，大家有興趣的話，可以去了解一下。我的目的是希望引起中國家長和學生對這一問題的高度重視，以免孟母三遷變成換個地方洗腦，最終培養出一隻中不中、洋不洋，在西方混不好，回到中國也不適應的四不像海龜來。
下面，我將介紹兩個榜單。一個是網站Accredited Schools Online列出的2024年美國最自由和最保守的10所院校介紹給大家。如果你希望去一所非常liberal的大學，你儘可以去選榜單中的學校；如果你不想去移樽就教，那麼你可以考慮那些conservative 的大學。或者你都不選，那麼你大可以兩者都避開。
這裡，先看liberal院校的標準：Our list of the most liberal colleges was based on many factors. Inclusivity — of students who identify as female, those belonging to racial and ethnic minority groups, and members of the LGBTQ+ community — was one of the most important metrics. Other key variables include the environmental sustainability of the campus, clubs and organizations that promote progressive values, and the cities and towns where the schools were located. Our top 10 picks are listed below in alphabetical order.
